Lead Reliability Engineer – New Product Development
Location: South San Francisco, CA

Description
Aperia is a funded automotive product startup
developing a fully-mechanical device which
improves vehicle energy efficiency. We are
seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to
lead product development activities related to
reliability optimization and verification of our
engineered system. The candidate should have a
degree in Mechanical engineering with a minimum
of 5 years experience using standard reliability
principles & analysis applied to new product
development. A Certification in Reliability
Engineering (CRE) is a strong plus.

Essential Responsibilities
• Assist the engineering team in developing the
product DVP&R, and manage implementation of the required testing.
• Source and manage external test labs.
• Play a leading role in DFMEA activities.
• Work with engineering to embed reliability
requirements into the product specification
• Assist engineering with specifying tests to
support reliability improvement activities.
• Develop and implement the environmental characterization plan.
• Work with the design team to analyze and
resolve issues arising from reliability testing.
• Perform statistical analysis of product
reliability from reliability test results.
• Develop reliability engineering standard
documentation, and assist the engineering team in
the adoption of standard practices.
• Specify and procure test equipment and
instrumentation to support reliability program goals.
• Provide direction to Reliability lab associates.
• Mentor engineering staff in Reliability concepts as needed.
• Develop and maintain a failure database.

Qualifications
• Degree in Mechanical engineering
• Minimum of 5 years experience using standard
reliability principles / analysis applied to new product development
• Knowledge of mechanical systems
• Demonstrated experience in project leadership
• Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated experience providing direction to
lab associates and external testing labs
• Proficiency with statistical analysis as it
applies to reliability engineering
• Proficient with Analysis Tools Excel and MiniTab
• Experience with Product Life Modeling and
associated software tools (example BlockSim, Weibell++)
• Able to plan and execute Lifecycle tests at the subsystem / component level
• Experience with Accelerated Life Testing (ALT)
• Reliability Growth Testing and Analysis
• Proficient at Root Cause Analysis
