POSITION Equipment Design Engineer
REPORTS TO Senior Product Manager

Design Engineer to work with some of the best

Santa Cruz Mountains with amazing road and
mountain trails, awesome road biking routes and
world class surf. We are based in the San
Francisco South Bay Area, the Santa Cruz Mystery

HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
* Through a passion for product such as
Pumps, Cages, Tools and Components, create the
best Hardgoods products on the market
* Master the Hardgoods product line and
support the product direction by developing links
with other product creation teams
* Help to develop and engineer new products
in collaboration with internal and external
resource teams based on user feedback and knowledge of the market
* Attend trade shows for inspiration and to stay current with trends
* Apply and maintain test standards and
provide recommendations for improvements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Responsible for Product Line engineering,
while managing the timeline, cost targets and key
features/benefits for these categories.
* Develop testing standards for all current and new products.
* Oversee overall breadth of the product line
in order to hit key targets for product
positioning (generally) as well as specific
details, functionality and cost (specifically).
* Maintain line logic that will result in the
product line meeting targets for performance and business growth.
* Drive design efforts (internal or external)
so that the vision for the line is accurately executed.
* Travel for on site development and QC
assurance to Asian suppliers (3-5 trips per year).
* Travel to tradeshows, dealers and partner
with vendors to track market trends and
innovative materials and constructions.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED
* Ideal candidate has a Mechanical
Engineering degree plus 5 years experience and
working knowledge in developing & designing consumer goods.
* Experience in Asian development and production is an advantage
* Asia travel & work experience
* Able to work across internationally based teams
* Must have a clear knowledge of development
process including timelines, pricing & delivery
* A team player with strong organizational
skills, and able to handle multiple tasks and
manage priorities in a focused but flexible manner.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Pro E, Solidworks, & CAD programs.
* Must have strong knowledge and experience in the following:
* Properties & applications of: Steels, Alum, & Plastics
* Manufacturing techniques & properties of composites
* Injection molding (product design,
product trouble shooting & basic understanding of tooling design)
* Forging & Castings (part design & application)
* Plating, Coatings, and Anodizing (properties & application)
* DFM (design for manufacturing)
* Cycling enthusiast preferred
