ABOUT OUR INTERNSHIP
Blue Sky LightGrid is pioneering innovative ways
to apply mechatronics to producing and
distributing communications that speeds up and
improves the quality of still and moving imagery
for corporate clientele. In short, we are making
robotic lighting systems for studio production
settings (see

As an intern at Blue Sky LightGrid, you’ll be
contributing directly to our work in designing,
prototyping, producing, and proving our next
generation studio environment, collaborating
alongside an experienced team of engineers,
photographers, roboticists, and editors to bring
this system to life and prove its role in new
forms of messaging. You will be treated as a
regular member of the multidisciplinary team,
working on a variety of tasks in an environment
that blends autonomy and collaboration.
ABOUT YOURSELF
You should have exceptional technical abilities,
pride in the quality of your work, and a passion
to create innovative results. You have a desire
to build upon your solid foundation in
mechatronics, electrical engineering, computer
science, or mechanical engineering in order to
gain a deep understanding of the design and
development approaches that get innovative
mechatronics systems into demanding everyday use.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING HERE
• Design and develop novel subsystems for our next generation robotic LightGrid
• Provide creative input for brainstorming and concept development efforts
• Create prototypes and running systems to
demonstrate and prove system behavior
• Modify and improve existing designs for
improved reliability and ease of build/use
QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIRED and DESIRED
• Pursuing a degree or advanced degree in
Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
• Proficient with SolidWorks, comfort with other
engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD)
• Familiarity with rapid prototyping techniques,
including traditional hand and machine tools
• Experience with robotics, sensors, actuators,
and embedded software would be beneficial
• Ability to communicate and collaborate
effectively in a cross-functional environment
