Mechanical Engineer, Monolithic Power Systems
Job Summary:
MPS is seeking a highly self-motivated, resourceful and very hands-on
mechanical engineer.
This person will work within a small, new mechanical design group to
demonstrate a novel cost effective high speed and high precision
motion control system based on MPS' eMotion and BMS technologies.
This new concept can be applied to future electric transportation and
robotic designs, including the design and build of a full electric
multi-terrain vehicle (patent pending), which is the primary focus of
several near term projects.
Essential Functions:
Design and build of new mechanical products from concept to release
Brainstorming and concept generation/review 3D model and 2D drawing CAD design
Coordination with external fabrication vendors as needed
Identification, selection and procurement of commercial hardware
Coordination with electrical team to ensure proper design integration
Fabricate and assemble components
Testing/validation of finished assemblies
Upkeep and co-management of mechanical lab (machine shop)
Qualifications/Requirements:
BS in mechanical engineering + 2-5 years industry experience or MS in
Mechanical Engineering + 0-2 years industry experience
Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering design: Strength of
materials, Design for manufacturing and assembly,
Mechatronics/robotics/controls/automation design experience a plus
Extremely proficient in using CAD tools: SolidWorks preferred,
simulation experience a plus
Excellent hands-on skills and very comfortable in a machine shop
environment: Rapid prototyping, welding, milling, turning CNC
operation and programming experience a plus
Experience in buggy, car, motorcycle or bicycle design and build is a big plus
Oral / written proficiency in English
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
