Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Primary Function of Position: The Mechanical
Engineer is responsible for developing, testing,
documenting and validating the designs of
mechanical systems for a novel Xâ€Ray Surgical System.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design components, assemblies for the ZAP surgical systems
- Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
- Create assemblies functional and design specifications
- Analyze and test assemblies designs
- Perform reliability to demonstrate design robustness
- Develop vendors to manufacture components and assemblies
- Develop initial fixtures and processes to assemble components
- Develop product assembly instructions for manufacturing
- Develop and perform component verification
testing and product validation testing
- Troubleshoot process, component and system problems
- Provide engineering to support Manufacturing
and Field Engineering to facilitate transfer of designs.
- Develop Design History Files per FDA requirements
Skill/Job Requirements:
- A minimum of MSME
- Some Experience in designing commercial mechanical products
- Proficiency using SolidWorks to design
- Proficiency using Matlab to perform numerical analysis of mechanisms.
- Strength in machine design and motion analysis
with some Mechatronics experience
- Conduct static and modal FEA
- Strong understanding of Bearing load Calculation
- Handsâ€on engineering with the proven ability
to work well in a team environment
- Comfortable operating machine equipment and lab
instrumentation for testing and validation
- Creative problemâ€solving ability
- Good communication and documentation skills
- Strong understanding of component selection
criteria, and design for reliability and manufacturability
- Familiar with all phases/processes of the
product development lifecycle, including design,
implementation, debug, verification,
qualification, and transfer to Manufacturing
