TinkerTags Lead Mechanical Engineer

TinkerTags is changing the way children learn
computer programming by using an innovative
combination of software and hardware. Our
founding team consists of Stanford grads with
backgrounds in computer science and education. We
are currently backed by Imagine K-12, the
Y-Combinator of education, and by StartX.

We are looking for a mechanical engineer to lead
hardware development and production. Ideally, we
would have a candidate start as soon as possible
with the duration of the position being
negotiable. We are currently located in Palo
Alto, California, but there may be a chance to do work remotely if needed.


Major Responsibilities:

· Help brainstorm and generate concepts for current and future products

· Design and prototype all electrical and mechanical systems

o PCB design

o Embedded systems design

o Plastic housing design

· Develop a wireless communication system between multiple devices

· Develop a timeline for all aspects of hardware

· Manage relationships with vendors when
moving from prototype to production

· Be the go-to person for anything and everything related to hardware


Qualifications:

· Proficient in CAD

· Proficient in PCB design

· Experience in embedded systems

o Wireless communication

· Self-starter w/ strong ability to learn
quickly and tackle problems both on your own and with a team


Ideal Candidate Would Have:

· Experience with Arduino

· Experience designing flexible surface mount PCBs

· Experience with scaling from a prototype to quantities of 1,000-10,000

· Silicone mold design

· Portable electronics battery integration

· Waterproof encapsulation experience

· Electronics manufacturing experience

· Passion for education
