opening for a full-time IMAGE PROCESSING ENGINEER. In this position,
you will develop and improve open-source software that supports space
exploration through satellite imaging. You will also help develop and
extend NASA open-source software, including our high-performance
stereo vision tool, the "Ames Stereo Pipeline". Our team is a mixture
of individuals with diverse backgrounds in planetary science,
computer vision, and software engineering.
Applicants should hold a B.S. (or higher) in Computer Science, or a
related field, and have excellent software engineering and system
development skills. A strong background in UNIX (Linux) application
development and open-source tools is required. Advanced proficiency
in C++ is required.
In addition, interest or prior knowledge in one (or more) of the
following areas is greatly preferred:
* Computer Vision: segmentation techniques, interest point matching,
stereo correlation, camera geometry, or standard image operations.
* Cartography: datums and projections.
* Numeric Optimization: gradient descent, Gauss-Newton, and techniques to
handle and speed up problems with a large state vector.
* GDAL, Eigen, and/or Boost.
