R&D Engineer - Miramar Labs, Inc. Sunnyvale, CA
Reports To: Director, Research & Development (Devices)

Position Summary:
Miramar Labs
(<http://www.miramarlabs.com>www.miramarlabs.com),
an early commercial stage medical device start-up
located in Sunnyvale, is seeking a hands-on
Research and Development Engineer. The candidate
must be proficient with SolidWorks and be
competent in the machine shop. Knowledge of basic
electronics and experience with MatLab, Labview
or other programming languages is a plus. In
2012 Miramar launched its first microwave based
dermatologic device in the US. The candidate
will contribute to next generation product design
and development. Responsibilities will include
design, prototyping hardware and software,
developing new tools and fixtures to assist
Miramar in bringing a new device to market.

Required Competencies:
Proficient in Solidworks
Proficient in the machine shop (mill and lathe)
Knowledge of electronics or electrical systems
Some experience with software programming

Education and/or Experience:
BS or MS (ME degree preferred)
Prior exposure to medical device development is a plus

Essential Functions:
· Work with engineers and technicians to create
working prototypes, specifications, and
documentation for new products or product revisions
· Develop standards in test methods and test
specifications for product development
· Present technical data in design review meetings
· Complete projects (including product
enhancements) in an aggressive manner consistent with corporate objectives
· Contribute to the intellectual property
position of the company via invention and patent applications
· Maintain accurate documentation of concepts, designs, drawings and processes
· Provide engineering and technical support of products released to the field
· Identify and oversee outside vendors and consultants as required
· Work in compliance with quality systems,
including design control and document control, in
coordination with the Quality Assurance and Manufacturing functions
· Participate in device risk and hazard analysis
· Maintain a professional, credible image with
key physicians, consultants, vendors and co-workers
