SAP TIP Design + Front End Applications: Special Projects
SAP is a leader in business applications with

running our software. SAP products are used
around the world to bill, to buy, to hire, to
inform decisions and to execute on them. The
Design + Front Line Applications team at SAP
Labs, Palo Alto, is looking for a UX Designer
with strong, customer-focused interaction
research and design skills, and an interest in
business applications and analytics.
The nature of business is changing. SAP knows
that to continue to be a leader in business
software we must not only keep up with these
changes, we must get in front of them, giving our
customers the tools they need to understand and
run their businesses today and tomorrow.
SAP also understands that a business application
must be easy to learn, easy touse, and must
enable the user to do what they do best: their
work. Your jobwill be to understand their work,
find opportunities to make the information they
need accessible and understandable, and produce a
product experience which is exceptional.
Your mastery of experience design will be put to
use making complex products andprocesses seem simple, natural and obvious.
As a UX Designer in the Special Projects group,
you will be working in a fast-paced environment
where prototypes become products that make a real
difference to our customers. Our projects are
varied, and, though our group is small, we work
closely with existing product teams of engineers,
product managers, system architects, and other
designers. Our focus is always on customer needs:
understanding them and fulfilling them. We strive
for innovative products but first and foremost,
they must be products that address real customer needs.
Experience Requirements
· Experience as designer of software
applications for desktop, web and/or mobile devices
· Strong written and verbal communications skills
· Ability to define and execute customer
interviews which create new understandings of the
work and new insights into products to support that work
· A quick learner, capable of immersing
yourself in new topics, terminology and end user tasks
· Able to translate your designs to the
understanding of engineers, and adapt your
designs to emerging engineering constraints
· A passion for working on leading-edge
projects where technology is evolving along with your product
· Enterprise software design experience a definite plus
· Programming skills in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript are a plus
· A basic understanding of database technology is advantageous
· Knowledge of basic business terms and practices is also a plus
· Experience defining and creating data
visualizations is highly desirable
Education
· Undergraduate degree. (The particular
field is interesting, but less important; we
understand that what you studied and where you
found your calling may be quite different.)
· An advanced technical, art or design degree a plus
