Research Engineer-Sensor Systems, SRI International (Menlo Park, CA)

SRI's Sensor Systems Laboratory (SSL) has an immediate need for a
Research Engineer at our Menlo Park, California, headquarters. This
is an individual-contributor position and involves design,
construction, and testing of biological detection systems for a wide
range of DoD and government applications; experimental evaluation of
new concepts and devices; field test planning and implementation.
Contribute to preparation of reports, briefings, and proposals.

SRI's Sensor Systems Laboratory conducts basic and applied research in
chemical and biological sensors, optical and remote sensors, and
medical diagnostics. The successful applicant will work closely with
a multidisciplinary R&D team to create first generation prototypes of
integrated biological and chemical systems, and will have the ability
to analyze, test and evaluate engineering performance of prototype
instruments designed for biological and chemical assays. They will
ensure that the engineering hardware is meeting the required
specification and work with the R&D team to improve and optimize
hardware performance.

--Requires BS or MS in physics, mechanical, chemical or biomedical
engineering with up to 5 years relevant experience. New grads who
have relevant laboratory experience are encouraged to apply.
--U.S. Citizenship is required; priority will be given to applicants
who currently possess an active security clearance, but an active
security clearance is not required.
--Eagerness to work on multidisciplinary projects.
--The applicant must have good interpersonal skills and be a
successful part of a larger team
--Experience with Matlab, SolidWorks, LabView, and/or National
Instruments hardware is desired
